I was leaving town last week when a friend told me about a custom built rifle he had seen in a gun shop but he had just bought a new rifle and didn't want to blow some more cash at the time. After hearing him rave about it for 15 min I decided after I left him to stop buy and take a look at it. I asked about it in the Bolt action section on here but no one respoonded so I called some smiths and got very little but good news on the smith that did this work. It is from the 1960's and the smith has been passed away for many years. Anyways about the gun...
It's a Custom built rifle by C.E. Durham Gunsmith, FN Mauser 98 action, cutom trigger and safety, glass bedded action & barrel, 24" barrel, I believe he even hand rolled the barrel himself it has Durham 6.5x62 barrel stamped on it, Monte carlo walnut stock, 264 win. magnum.
I stopped by monday as soon as I got back in town and bought it. I have been wanting to build a 6.5 for about a year so figured this would hold me over for a little while. The rifle also fit me like a glove and balanced perfect, and the bolt is smooth as butter.
Just sharing for the others that are a weak like me when it comes to a beautiful old wooden stocked rifle.
Here's a few pics. The trigger boot is not on the trigger I just put it back togther from a good cleaning.
