After approximately nine months, my Nighthawk Talon II Bobtail has arrived! I have GRP as well, and it's funny how the new pistol still amazes me. I've always liked 2-tone guns, and I finally got one to specs I liked. This will be a CCW pistol. I added ambi-safety, Heinie ledge sights, crowned barrel flush with bushing and slide stop flush with frame and beveled. I've put 275 rounds through it since yesterday, all 100% flawless, other than some magazine issues(old ones I had.)
Holster is handmade by a local friend of mine. Ammo, Fed HST +P 230gr. Illumination by Surefire. All I can say is if you are on the fence about getting a NH(or LB, Wilson, Ed Brown, etc.) don't hesitate! They are just butter smooth!! Thanks for looking!
When I picked it up, I talked to store about ordering another N-H, thinking a Falcon for next build. He said N-H is up to 12 months now. But thing is, I know this going in, so I'm very okay with it(not like I have a choice.) And not like I don't have other guns I can shoot/carry, etc.
Now, if I took my car to get some maintenance done, they promised me it'd be done Wed this week and it wasn't done until Tuesday next week? Then I'd be annoyed.
Such is the realm of custom/semi-custom firearms. But trust me, it's worth the wait!! Just put your money down and forget about it until you get the phone call from your dealer!!
Yes, steel frame. I totally understand why people get alloy/aluminum frame 1911's, I do. But, I just believe an all steel frame is the way to do it. I won't even discuss the polymer 1911's that some companies will do. And I even like my Glocks as well, but . . . anyway I don't digress.
1911 builders are getting more work then they can handle at this point. if they are good you are goin to wait. if someone who builds pistols tells you a couple months... there is a reason.
the guy building mine has over 50 guns in his shop at all times awaiting builds.
Beautiful! I bought a Talon II bobtail back in 2007 and less than 3 months later bought a Hard Chrome Predator. Love those pistols, 2 of the best shooting guns I have ever had in my hands.
