Rifle Scopes Offset RDS mount for bolt gun?

I've been considering a small RDS in an offset mount for a bolt gun for unexpected close encounters. Want to tuck it in on the right side of the primary optic where it can be used at close range by just rolling the rifle inboard (as little as possible). Here's the rifle:

Don't want to put it on top. So - what optic, what mount (rail or scope mounted), etc? Pics help if you have something similar. Also, what doesn't work, or it just a bad idea if you have tried it in the past.

Thanks.

Re: Offset RDS mount for bolt gun?

I've got a Bushnell TRS25 on my hunting rifle for now. I can't afford the scope I want right now, so I'm stuck with a fixed 10x Bushnell. It is a bit awkward to use because the RDS is mounted too high compared to others I've used. The problem is that the RDS really needs to be right where your elevation knob is. With low profile turrets I think you could set it up properly. While it isn't ideal, it is certainly better than using 10x at ranges less than 50 yards for a hunting rifle. As soon as I can get the proper scope that adjusts down to 3x or so, I'm going to do away with the RDS. If you need a mount for your scope, I used this one:

I agree, definitely not ideal, but it works for my purposes until I can get something better. To the OP, try shooting your current set up at its lowest magnification at close range. I haven't used a timer, but even at 30 yards, the 10x scope feels *almost* as fast as the RDS on stationary targets. I don't think I'd be able to hit anything moving within 50 yards though, which is why I have the RDS. Realistically, the scope will cover 99% of any hunting situation. For target shooting, I don't have any use for it, but YMMV.

With a one-piece picatinny rail, you could use a 45 degree mount:

I run a Burris FastFire II on that mount on one of my AR's.

If you want to attach to the scope, GG&G makes this - gives you a base for the dot, plus a place for a spare battery, microfilm or poison capsule:

Another 30mm ring from DNZ:

And the same for a 1" main tube:

I use the Dr. Optic on a Mark Burkett mount. Very low profile and I believe Mark makes the mount with the protector wings now. Rail mount.

Have 2. One on a scoped AR10 spr and one on a scoped ar15
