Im tryin to get my Ruger 10/22 up and going as a technique practicing tool for my LR .308 rifle build. Im new to all this and it was suggested that I use Mil-Mil on my .308 build. I figured it would behoove me to also use the same on my 10/22, but maybe not. Need some help to decide that. I will be shooting UNDER 50 yds ALOT and I would say no more than 175 at times. Need to pick a scope out. $300ish dollar MAX budget....prefer sub $200. Not sure if I would want 6 or 10 on a fixed power being as I want to shoot some short yardages also. Here are a couple I have found. Please list anything you think mite be helpful and why. thanks in advance!

Get something you can adjust for parallax. My buddy has a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40AO that goes down to 10yds. I believe he paid right around $300 for it.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

Midway has one of their "exclusive" BSA tactical scopes in 6-24x44 mil-dot that is very decent for $250 (often found on sale for $150). It is nothing like the typical BSA crap, I was very pleasantly surprised, especially for the money. Parallax is adjustable from 10 yds to infinity. I've got it on my Savage Mark II TR and it does all I need it to on that rifle.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

Just went to Academy and Gander Mountain an looked at a couple of the 3x9 Nikon Prostaffs. Not to
Shabby for the price. Looked at some Vortex Crossfires too. Cant remember the exact models of them all though.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

I also pretty much figured out that 6x is too much on the low end. I still want to do some close range plinking and let my boy shoot it too to figure out more about shooting technique.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

Well ended up picking up the Weaver 3.5x10 tactical mil-mil scope from a member. Pretty excited. Now need to pick out some rails. Its got the 6 bolt Weaver rings on it already. EGW, DNZ?? Whats yalls advice?

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

Oh also do you guys think I will need any MOA in the rails? Only planning on going out to 150 yds at most probably. If I read right it only has 56 MOA of internal adjustment.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

I've been happy with my Meuller APV, I'd like to try a APT next. Meuller offers quite a bit for the price, hard to beat.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

i am convinced i want a fixed power on my .22lr. i stopped thinking so much about field of view and started thinking more about how small most .22 sized targets are. i can understand the concern for focusing the closer distances with higher fixed power scope though. there is an inexpensive 8x mill dot rehticle bsa makes that i am thinking about. i still would like to find a review about at what range people have been able to focus it down to. this may make or break this scope as a viable option for me.

just something else to think about or quickly dismiss.

Re: Help with Ruger 10/22 Scope Selection!!!

Went with Tactical Solutions flat base as I dont think I will see much over 100-150 yds with this thing. Just being honest with myself.

Still gotta get some rings. Gona stop by Bass ProShops on my way home from work Thursday morning and see what they got. Ive got some pretty good parts on this thing so far and dont wana start skimping on rings. Not sure I wana spend Mark 4 type money either though. Looked at the Lupy PRW rings.....any thoughts? They were fairly cheap and looked decent.
