Quick Question for you GAP-10 shooters.

I ordered mine yesterday and am wondering what magazine works out best for prone shooting.

GA Precision offers an option of 5 and 10 round and I see on the web that there are also PMAG's available in 20 round.

What are the thoughts of those with a GAP-10?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link!

I think I'm catching on regarding this issue.

I was not sure what all the 10/20, 10/30, 15/30, etc. was all about.

I take it that these are mags for states with various bans on magazine capacity?

And I take it that the stubby PMAGS are just cut down standard magazines?

Thanks

Re: Mags for GAP-10?

Depends on your pod height and topography in prone. I've used a 20 round pma, but there's been times I wish I had a 10 rounder.

Re: Mags for GAP-10?

10/20 10/30 etc mags are magazines designed to give you the look of the origional in a limited capacity for states such as california that have a 10 round magazine capacity limit so you can have a 10/30 pmag and your AR will still look the same and you will retain all the manual of arms you would with regular Pmags while still keeping you withint the law for california.

Re: Mags for GAP-10?

I'm going to disagree with some of the gentlemen here in that sometimes a 5 or 10 rounder is preferred even in prone for uses other than hunting or legal regulations. On several occasions in both matches and just regular field shooting I've run into issues with the 20 rounders being a little too long either because of debris or other items within the shooting area position that prevent me from getting a clear line of sight. Especially if you're using a 6-9" bi-bod and shooting in the sand you might find yourself having to dig out under the magazine to get low enough.

Re: Mags for GAP-10?

I will say that if you plan to shoot matches with this gun a few 5 rounders are mandatory. In barricade stages with holes cut out of plywood that are low to the ground will necessitate the use of 5 rounders.
