I have a S&B PM-II I just bought and a friend gave me a good looking (well made) Kill-flash that fits the scope and looks great. I like the look and it dosen't "weaken" my view, but is there anyother reason I should use it if I only shoot paper?

This scope is a big jump from my Mk-4, please don't flame me.

Re: Kill Flash

Depending on the design, a killflash can act sort of like a sun shade. It blocks light coming in at an oblique angle. Some work better than others.

And I don't think anyone is going to flame you for using a S&B. Maybe if you were using a CounterSniper....

Re: Kill Flash

And if there arent any negatives and you like how it looks why bother to take it off. There is nothing wrong with having something that looks cool as long as the coolness doesnt degrade from its usefulness.

Re: Kill Flash

Yes, please post a picture I'm sure lots of folks would like to see it.

I've got a few scope sunshades with ARD's, including USO and S&B (I think USO made the S&B ARD) None of them degrade the image one bit. Also put an ARD on my Leupold & Leica spotting scopes. Again, no changes or problems with image clarity.

I use the UK issue honeycomb on my AW instead of a sunshade (it was cheaper than the S&B sunshade, fits inside the length of the B&C flip up and works fine) . Can't see any reason not to use it.

Re: Kill Flash

Not the greatest picture, but shows the SS 3x9 mounted on the LTR. The KillFlash fits right under the BC flip cap in front and adds only about 3/8" to the length. I remember reading somewhere that it is akin to using a 9" sun shade.... I don't know about that, but it does work. I do feel that there is a very slight image degradation but its very subtle.
