I need a one-piece, 34 mm. scope ring/base set. The one from SPUHR costs $410.!! Yumpin' Yimminy! What in God's name do they make it of, "Unobtanium"?

I'm putting it on a 20 deg. Picatinny rail in my 700 Rem./HS Precision long action.

Any suggestions for a good one around $200.? (+ or - $50.)

CP, Thanks for the Near website. Very nice mounts. Pricey but nice.

But their double front ring setup on the "Alphamount" gives very little room for eye relief adjustment with a short scope like a Bushnell HDMR.

Re: NEED ONE-PIECE 34 MM. SCOPE RING SET

Best bang for the buck (your stated $200 budget) for a 34mm 1pc mount is the Badger Ordnance model (they come in 2 different ring-spacing sizes) as seen here:

http://badgerordnance.com/1-piece-mounts/

Also, check with Steve at Triad Tactical (a Hide vendor and all-around great person to do business with)...he has the shorter-spacing model in stock for $179:

Good luck!

LiteHiker, I love your sence of humour!
Never heard about unobtainium before.....:)

But the Spuhrmount is an optical platform with loads of options noone else is offering. Its highly specialized so we actually makes 35 different models of the mount to fit to as many hights and tilts as possible.

Here is a to long video where the system is explained.
Video!!!

And here is a PDF expaining it.

Then there is always the queestion if you need any of those features we are offering, and that decision can only you make. But please don't look at it as a scopemount, cause then you havent really understood the product....

Best Regards Håkan

Depending on the scope you're mounting you can probably use a set of low or medium Badger or Seekins rings and have the perfect setup.

One piece mounts are for canting when a base doesn't do the job or for swapping optics back and forth. If it doesn't fall into those categories then I wouldn't bother with it.

Spuhr mounts are for those that are doing a lot more than just mounting a scope.

Re: NEED ONE-PIECE 34 MM. SCOPE RING SET

The only advantage I see in the one piece rings is the ability to have a quick disconnect that you can use one high quality scope for multiple rifles. Not everyone can afford 3 USOs.. no matter how much we wanna!

Re: NEED ONE-PIECE 34 MM. SCOPE RING SET

Jp makes fine stuff, but why ever consider a cantilever mount for a Remington 700? Isent that a mayor mistake?
Badger, Nightforce and Near unimounts that are straight, but why cantilever when it's not needed?

Re: NEED ONE-PIECE 34 MM. SCOPE RING SET

Gentlemen,

I want a one piece mount because I will not have to lap the rings. Don't want the time involved or the expense of a ring lapping kit.

TWO-PIECE MOUNTS> Always require ring lapping to be sure your rings aren't putting a torquing pressure on the scope tube, posibly interferring with internal adjustments or lens alignment.

ONE-PIECE MOUNTS> have the rings bores in exact alignment with one boring operation.

Re: NEED ONE-PIECE 34 MM. SCOPE RING SET

Not true on the lapping. You just need to buy quality rings that are a matched set. Seekins or Badger both are of that quality and I have NEVER had to lap a ring set from either of those manufacturers.

So long as your base isn't torqued out of alignment that is, and if it is you have bigger problems anyhow.
