My smith is starting on my 260 build (finally!!) and I have a last minute question. I plan to use 140 VLD's exclusively, AI mags, 1:8 twist Krieger.

What chamber reamer should we use to effectively shoot the 140 VLD's while staying within mag length for AI mags?

I tried a search and came up with a close, but not perfect, answer which was a SAMMI spec with .080 freebore. Anyone have firsthand knowledge?

Re: Quick question for 260 shooters using 140 VLD's

I have a surgeon 260 cut with a kmw 260 reamer. It is fantastically accurate with all my match loads. But, 120 accutips are not reliable in it. I bought a box to try and they shot great. So i went back to the store and bought a case. Went to the range come deer season to verify drop again and some bullets would cluster in a group and some sould fly 4moa in any given direction. It scared me so much i went home and loaded 50 handloads with 142 smk and went back. The gun had no problem. Shot great. So now i have a useless case of 260 hunting ammo. I am not upset at all being this gun was built for matches and not hunting so i need to look into the berger or game king lines for hunting bulllets. I aint complaining because i doubt a factory chamber and twist would do great for hunting ammo but not for match like it was built for. Good luck

Funny you just posted that, I JUST called and spoke to the owner, he knew exactly what I needed and it was in stock! Great people to deal with and they know their stuff!
