Hiders,

Does anyone know why the McMillan A4 is only available with the Saddle type cheek piece as an option? Why have I never seen one with the KMW Logger Head or Thumb wheel Adjustable?

Can one be put on aftermarket or will it mess up the stock?

Thanks.

I believe they use separate specialized molds in order to make an adjustable cheekpiece stock. In order for them to go through the effort to make/order these, they would have to get enough demand.

The saddles are fine but you will want to do 3 things to them:

- Notch the the nose (front) so you can remove the bolt even when the saddle is raised to the same height as the bolt - this takes a dremel, a pair of pliers, a file - and all of 5 minutes.

- A tiny dab of locktite on the screws once you get your preferred height squared away.

- Cover the thin foam pad on the saddle with some cloth (an old pant leg works great: cut 2 sections longer and wider than you will need. Line the bottom section up, use an exacto knife to make single cut the exact length of the post under the saddle, dab a little glue on the fabric and press it up under the saddle to conform it to the underside of the entire piece. Then lay the top piece over the saddle and pin the two pieces of cloth together at the edge. Sew. Trim. No more greasy face. No cheesy thin foam to get ripped.)

Good luck
