I just mounted my 8-32x56mm NF on my new rifle with a heavier contour than any previous rifle. The scope mounted up with one pair of rings.

With the 56mm objective, the scope BARELY clears. I know that you want the scope as close to the barrel as possible - but how close is too close?? Will my barrel expand and wreck my scope?

Please let me know. I hate to destroy a $1,700 scope, so I figure I'd expose my ignorance and ask before I shoot it.

Thanks in advance!

Plus its a nightforce from what I have heard your barrel would have to expand quite a bit to cause damage. A picture is worth a thousand words on this one though.

If the bikini cover kind of fits you are golden. I can only hook the bikini cover on the top of the scope - the bottom is too close to even begin to slip the bottom of the cover on.

That's what I meant my "kinda fits". There's not a chance that I could even get a sliver of the cover between bell and barrel.

When I get home tonight, I'll see how many business cards will fit between. I'm guessing it will be more than one but less than 3...

Wow, three business cards, that's close. I thought that this was close.

You have to hold the gap up to the light to see any space between... I'll shoot for a picture, but can't promise you'll be able to see the gap.

That is pretty dang close for an AR!

To be honest though I've decided that's too close for me. I shot a class where we had some rain showers and my lenses got some crap on them. Not a big deal but I'd have preferred a good fitting cap to help avoid the waterspots. I'm ordering some new rings to accommodate the Tenebraex covers.
