So subjective, especially without anyfurther info about its use and design.

I like em as short as possible, therefore Id go 24".

right now, im running a 26" varmit on a savage i use to varmit and shoot TAC matchs with to 1000+
im building a r700 now to match it for same use..

My .260 Savage custom barrel for 1Kyd is 28" 1:8" twist, .875" diameter muzzle, LW-50 Stainless.

I like them as long as possible, which allows me to make my velocity with a milder load. It's a bore/throat preservation strategy.

it will be nitrided, i got near 1800 down my savage 260 in 1 year...

Depends on use just for shooting targets and steel the 26 if I was going to hunt with it and carry it the 24 might be the thing.

varmint 24 inch as long as you don't try to shoot at the cyclic rate, and want to keep weight down.
