lots of people use 9mm cans for .300blackout subsonic, but not what you are asking. that's going to be WAAAAAAAY too much pressure.

Yeah 300blk subsonic is fine through an osprey. I'd just like to know what happens when you shoot a supersonic .308 load through it.

If you check out the tests that Silencer Co had done, the 300 BLK was in subsonic 220 SMK only. Quickload shows my case pressures on my 1000fps .308 loads to be about the same as my 220 SMK 300 BLK loads using the factory suggested 11.2 grs of AA1680. I cant see it being a problem. I would happily test it but I do not have a 5/8-24 piston for my Osprey .45 right now. Maybe in a month or two I can try it out. I would not think there to be issue if using subsonic .308 ammo.

Overbore to that degree produces poor suppression. How poor? Piss Poor. Not enough volume, too much overbore.
Using an aluminum can would be a big mistake.
There is no mystery about getting a .30 bullet through a .45 hole, none. brain dead. The question is suppression. And it is awful. This is where the first person says "hey! not for some subsonics!" My response? Nonsense, crap suppression as well for a pistol volume can with .45 overbore on a subsonic .30. Is it somewhat quieter? Sure, but that is about as effective as dropping a Techumseh block into a Formula Racer and asking "will it "go"?" Yes it will...it will "go."
