His first 284 barrel just started to drop a "9" here and there at ~2500.
His second one went ~3000 and showed no signs of quitting, but after finishing the season, decided to rebarrel it.
All three have been Bartleins. He runs the 180 Berger Hybrid @ ~2850, and usually shoots 3x600s. That means 3 twenty round strings in a day. A string includes 2 or 3 sighters and 20 for score in about 20 minutes. Always on hot sunny days, so barrels get hot. </div></div>
Pretty sure I was running in second to that guy with his 284 nearly the entire Fopen match in May in Cadillac. 284 is no joke with awesome barrel life. Much better than my 260AI </div></div>
His name is Ted, and his rifle is unique...he built it, action and all, himself. Kinda in a chassis type configuration, with a big fat aluminum receiver and a Sako-like 3 lug bolt. The bolt knob is big enough to do double duty as a shift knob on a semi.
