What to buy for 2500.00? LMT or Noveske

Getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan and the wife gave me her blessing to buy a new rifle. I am in the market for a 5.56 as I have a .308 any how I'm looking at the Noveske 16" Recon w/switch block the LMT CQB MRP or a Larue OBR in a 16" barrel. can't decide what say the masses here.

I have a Noveske 556 and 6.8 and they are both outstanding, but there are many great carbines in your price range.

Had both. The Noveske will be a work of art and might give you the edge in accuracy. I kept the LMT MRP - the monolithic rail won it in the end.

Not to throw another in the mix but have you looked at the Seekins CBR? Seekins ARs are excellent systems starting with their billet uppers and lowers and might save you some money too.

All 3 are damn fine rifles, but the LMT is almost a grand less, and IMO, will do anything the others will do with the 5.56 round.

As has been stated, there *might* be a slight accuracy edge with the LaRue or Noveske, but I prefer the LMT - mainly for the ability to swap out the barrel on your own; either replacing it if you ever manage to shoot one out, or for switching calibers. You also have the extra grand for any additions such as optics.

My $0.02, if you're taking any of that stuff into consideration.

I could not be more happy with my Noveske. Shoots .5 MOA all day long.

Thanks for the advice I am looking at a vortex or similar glass I plan on a few add ons but I will make it mine over time for sure. I am a newby to the semi auto rifle world first taste of it has been in the Air force for the last 5 years and Im hooked.

Bought a .308 and love it I reload as well but for a varmit gun I can't feed the damn thing, so I am going to buy a 5.56 but have no experience aside from the old ass m16 and the m4 we shoot for quals and on deployments. I have learned a lot on this forum and respect the advice given here thank you all.

Depends on what you want to do with it.

LMT - chrome lined for longevity/durability, with obvious quick change capability and good accuracy.

Noveske - stainless with great accuracy (same for LaRue). If you want it for varmint, I would say Noveske. They're durable also, just not chrome-lined durable . . . This might be a good option for relatively low weight but great accuracy http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imc...tus=&title=

I'd build a Noveske from a complete upper and buy a Gen2 lower and put my own LPK/stock in it.

I had a Noveske chrome lined 14.5" that was capable of sub-MOA with hand loads. The best 5-shot group I fired was 0.67 MOA.

I have both the LMT CQB and a Noveske N4 Afghan. The Noveske is more accurate than the LMT and is my favorite AR. But for the $1K difference in price it's hard to turn down the LMT.
