So, I found a great deal on a T/C Icon Precision Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor. I was thinking it would make a nice hunting rig so I took it home. A range trip told me this thing had great potential so I started thinking tactical build. The trigger went off to Kustom Ballistics for a tune up. It came back with a nice, crisp 2 pound break.
I tried to buy one of the Warlord stocks from Manners but the problem came when I wanted to use AICS mags; no bottom metal! Then, one night I was looking at the XLR website. There is was; a cool stock for my T/C. I waited about four months for it to arrive. When it did, the barreled action dropped right in. No fitting or bedding was done. Action screws were torqued in and everything was going smoothly.
Next, I wanted 20 MOA cant for scope mount. Another challange, as the integral bases were to far apart for any of the current 20 MOA mounts. It turned out the answer was in my old stuff drawer. It was a B Square riser for an AR-15. it fit nicely, but the screws that attached it were just plain ugly. Off to Lowe's and new unobtrusive screws were found.
My scope choice was a Vortex PST 6-24 with mil/mil and FFP. To get the cant I wanted I used Burris SIgnature Zee rings with the inserts, purchased from Sport Optics.
Then, off to the range with some factory 140 AMax ammo to see what would happen. Below are pics of the rifle and the first five shot group after zeroing. It was shot at a distance of 100 yards from a bipod. It measured .485". Not too bad!
