Remington 5R-20inch

Re: Remington 5R-20inch

I would say the difference is more features than potential accuracy:

LTR= CM, 12 twist, thin and lighter stock
5R= SS, 11.25 twist and threaded, heavier stock (It has a longer and wider forend)

The LTR is an overall lighter rifle due to the fluted barrel and stock profile.

Either one will shoot great of you work up loads. With factory ammunition literature would state the LTR would probable prefer 168s and the 5R 175s, but in the field either should shoot either well.

Re: Remington 5R-20inch

They're both going to shoot about the same. Options are going to be about the only differences. The LTR is basically just a lighter version/different barrrel.

LTR-lighter stock, fluted barrel, etc.
5R-heavy barrel, heavier stock, stainless

Here's an article by SWAT, you might wanna read.

That was a very interesting article. Glad they added in shortening the 300WM barrel info.

Gotta love the pictures in magazine articles.

Re: Remington 5R-20inch

I thought so, I wish I would have had the $ to start with a 24" and chrono'd the same load each time I had the brrl cut down. But in this case it is a Custom tube they are using, and in the past they (being smoother) can produce more vel than my old factory tube. I was gonna try it on my 6br Bartlein brrl at 27" and start cutting, but this economy, and 4 kids, puts a tight grip on funds, and I had to sale my 3yr build and lose $ just to keep my head above water. Maybe if the Military gets more $ it will help, get some bids on T11's or F16 chutes, and we can go strong, but who knows.
