Long action or SA for a 260 or 6.5? If using DM?

I already have a Remington 700 BDL Long action rifle as the donor rifle for my smith to build a 260 Rem or a 6.5 Creedmoor. I'd choose either cartridge which better justifies using a long action. I want the rifle to operate as a repeater, and I intend to use 130 to 140gr bullets seated way out so the bullet bearing surface is above the case neck-shoulder joint. Will a long action rifle be practical with one or both of these cartridge? While I would be satisfied using the factory built-in BDL magazine, I think having an after market detachable magazine installed would be a great asset and option too......ESPECIALLY if a DM justifies using a LA.

I'm not sure if one or both of these cartridges justifies a long action. (?) I'd be willing to go the DM route if installing it justifies having used a LA. While I think the 260 cartridge with a long OAL might require a LA for proper extraction of a loaded round, I'm not sure the shorter 6.5 Creedmore requires an LA. Because I don't want a half-assed custom rifle built on the wrong sized action........I can always dump the LA 700BDL and buy me a Rem 700BDL in SA.

Your input please.

I wouldn't hesitate to use a LA in a SA chambering. Has served our US Army snipers for decades without a fault. The M24 is a LA and chambered in .308 Badger makes a DBM for it.

If you decide on using a SA cartridge in a LA just remember to cycle the bolt all the way to the rear to pick up the next round. Its a cherry mistake but it happens

I've decided to go with a 6.5 Creedmore and NOT the 260. If the only way a long 130 or 140 VLD bullet seated above the case shoulder will properly feed in repeater mode is with a long action, then I'd be justified to keep the LA. Or, if I can only get a 130 or 140 VLD bullet to work through a magazine is if it's a LA magazine, then that also justifies using my LA. (I don't know if detachable SA magazines will fit 140 grain VLD cartridges)

But if a long length VDL bullet seated far out in the factory Remington BDL SA box will work, or with a SA Wyatt's DM style magazine will work, then my LA rifle is not needed.

Firepower alone is not my goal, as I feel I can rely on my AR15 or Ar10.

Thanks insight3b.

I guess I need to contact Badger ordnance and ask them what is the maximum AOL of the cartridge that their magazines will accept..... and if the 6.5 CM might feed reliably in place of the 308.

An AICS type s/a mag, either with the front plate removed or one of the knock-offs that do not have a plate in front, will easily and reliably feed a round as long as 2.92" or maybe a little longer. That should be plenty long enough to milk a 6.5cm for all it is worth.
