First off, I'm new here but not new to shooting. The problem is I've always been limited by finances to get my "dream" optics. The best I had was a barska for $80....anyways I just baught the scope in the subject line. Its going on. DPMS LR AR10. Will be shooting at 500 to 1000yds....I paid about $1100. Could I have done better or was this a good way to go. Just lookung for advise from the pros. Thanks

tyler, was your scope a ffp you were sending in? or a sfp?

OP, it's a good scope you'll be happy. Especially coming from what you were using.

I presume the one you bought was a ffp scope? I had listed a sfp 3.5-10x40 Mk4 lr/t NIB mildot /Moa knobs for almost two months here for $785. Leupold would convert to milrad knobs for about $150.. It sold to a friend in local area for $775 couldn't get a hit on the Hide. The cheapest price on Ebay was $1099

I bought my first one like you did through the Exchange years ago. For what you had available you didn't get hurt at all. You'll get all sorts of opinions but I think you did OK. The basic M1 / Mil-dot / SFP will more than get you started and perform well.

The one I picked up used was a SFP TMR/M1. I think it was $130+shipping for the M5 conversion. I really wasn't too concerned about FFP on a 3.5-10x because I wouldn't use the reticle for ranging/holds on lower powers. So far I'm pleased with the scope for what it cost me.
