Short Action Customs: AK PORN!

Shooters,

In my free time I have been playing around with some AK's that I just bought impulsively. I have been on a SBR kick lately, so I figured there is nothing better than a good suppressed AK SBR. Thanks for looking.

First AK is a Yugo PAP M85 in .223 Rem. We took out the barrel, and all components, threaded the barrel 1/2 x 28 and made an extension. We turned the extension down to match the barrel diameter, and then threaded the extension 1/2 x 28 concentric to the bore. We then reinstalled everything and secured the extension. I had to cut off the flash hider mount and I squared up the front of the gas block/front sight. I then installed a ACE folding stock. It turned out great.

Second rifle is a Arsenal SLR106-54 that had a 16" barrel. I pressed the barrel out and did not feel like removing everything, so I made a new fixture to thread the barrel in the lathe. Since the barrel OD was around .550", I decided to use the gasblock/front sight's front end to let the thread shoulder up against. So after threading and crowning, I squared up the front end to ensure it was square with the threads.

Mark, those are pretty cool looking but need a video to get the full effect of the SBR with suppressor.

Really digging the YUGO PAP M85, that thing looks sick! It's plain and simple, like that you left the wood on it. I look forward to seeing more. Cool video too! Thanks for the post

5.56 AK are way too cool, I am a big AK74 guy and am building a couple AK102's in 5.56 at the moment. can't wait to shoot them

Mark loves working on AK47's. Everyone send your AK stuff to him.. Here is my Ak Mark cut the barrle back 2" and threaded it for my suppressor.. I heard he is running a 1/2 off special on AK work next month so get your stuff together..

To be honest, I have only fired .223 versions. I have no experience shooting the 5.45 x 39

Typically, 5.45x39 surplus recoils a little more than a Selectric typewriter, which is a little less than most 5.56x45.
