I just picked up a new K31 to add to the collection. I have had a near perfect metal 1950 model non import marked which I love. The new one has all the extras I did not want to put on the correct one. It came with a Mojo peep sight, muzzle break and a right side scope mount to which I mounted an old classic Weaver 3x9 scope. I am looking forward to getting it out to the range, it will be my first time with a scoped K31.

I got it for $250 in 08. The metal is 98% easy, I was just after a shooter now it is a safe queen that gets to go out occasionally. I also got lucky with an Enfield No5 in the same shape with no import marks.

Are the import marks always in the same place?

No they can be on the barrel or receiver. If the importer is careful they can be hard to find.

If anyone has a Swiss made Diopter set I may be a buyer.

Re: New K31 Swiss

Somebody in my local rifle club was telling me a great story about a Swiss General who was being asked about battle tactics for the Swiss as the Germans outnumbered the Swiss 3 to 1. His solution was to equip each solider with 3 cartridges.

Awesome rifles for an army of marksmen.

Re: New K31 Swiss

I deceided to put the scope on the nicer one and sell the extra rifle to free up some cash for a rare Enfield I am getting. I plan to take it out at the end of the month. Looking forward to my first time out with a scoped Swiss.

Re: New K31 Swiss

I sold mine a few years back cause I was low on cash. That is the rifle I regret selling most. It was AWESOME. You could run the bolt super fast and it was accurate. I'd like to get another one some day.

Re: New K31 Swiss

These K31's never cease to amaze me. I have never seen one that shot bad and have seen some shoot close to match grade. For the money, they are a good deal. That swiss match ammo (in those little white boxes with the red wax ring between case and bullet) have gone way up in price in the recent years so they are not so cheap to shoot anymore.

They are pretty much a hand fitted rifle, so spares is an issue with them. Even if you buy whole rifles for the spares, because of all the hand fitting, what may seem logical to be able to just swap out may not fit because of the hand work done on the individual rifles. Besides, thats a very "swiss thing" with many things mechanical they build.

I know a guy that had one tweaked and rebarreled for .308 and it was a sweet shooter too.
