t5 or t5a?

Re: t5 or t5a?

Depends upon the height of your scope and the build of your face. If in doubt, get the adjustable version (just so long as the modest additional weight is of little concern).

Re: t5 or t5a?

I made the mistake of not getting adjustable on my first custom. It now wears a Triad stock pack, which has made it much better. Originally, with my head on the cheekpiece, I was looking straight at the bolt shroud. All my stocks since then have been adjustable.

Re: t5 or t5a?

I've got a couple of T5As. For me being able to optimize cheek weld and eye-scope relationships is priceless. Sure beats a jury rigged solution.

You won't regret going for the adjustability

Re: t5 or t5a?

T5 has an ambidextrous grip, whereas the T5a is outfitted with a thumb shelf designed for right-handed shooters.

The Adjustable cheek's additional weight is almost never an issue being that it helps balance heavier barrels.

An awesome choice for your stock!

Re: t5 or t5a?

I enjoy having the adjustability of the cheek weld. If you feel like you dont need it, don't get it and if you do need it in the future... get a stock pack. I look at the situation as it's better to be able to adjust the cheek weld; than not to have the adjustability when it's needed.

Re: t5 or t5a?

I've never regretted spending the extra cash for the 5A. I've also used stock packs and there is no comparison as far as adjustability and convenience. Someone on here also makes a thumbwheel for quick tool-free adjustments. Go with it and you won't be disappointed.

hardware doesn't weight much (about 6 oz i believe) but the stiffer fill in the buttstock area to support the hardware increases weight also. One manners' website the "A" models weight about 1.3lbs more then the non "A" models.

Re: t5 or t5a?

I think the benefit of the adjustable cheek rest is worth the weight so you ensure the proper sight picture every time you throw the gun up.

Or you can go the over the stock cheek rest route that will allow you to carry a few extra rounds right there with the gun. Doing this will save you a little weight over the A models I suspect.
