Re: So many plastic guns.

I "assumed" that since out was shiny brown and talking about wood and steel that it was a fat wood stock. Maybe its a Neddy synthetic painted shit brown. Its a pic.... I'm presuming you were talking to me or maybe I misread and you meant someone else.

Re: So many plastic guns.

The stock is one of the early 80's vacuum kiln dried then pressure impregnated specials Springfield bedded up on some of the '81 NM's. Sorry it upset you. No need to use nasty language.
Have a great day.
Cheers

Re: So many plastic guns.

Wood and steel does it for me

....but times, technologies and requirements change, necessitating and facilitating new solutions.

Each have their place.

And yes.....MJ1 has a fantastic collection and some beautiful rifles. Lucky bastard!!

Only wood and steel I have left are a Garand and Belgium Browning Hipower everything else is AR15. I used to have a bunch of nice, older hunting rifles but Obama convinced me to sell them and buy ARs instead...

You should have seen my little arms room in '67. A tent full of M1's and BAR's and a portable parts room with a work bench,,LOL.

Please keep posting your pics.

Hopefully I'll be pming you soon. Should be getting that .308 semi I picked you brain on some 10 months ago through the Culvers site.

Re: So many plastic guns.

Oh you'd love some of the stuff I've worked with. Loved the BAR, the 1919A4 (both of which we rebarreled to 7.62x51), Love the M3 for CQC, you don't want to know what I could get ours to eat.. good laugh. And of course: '03, Garands and M14s. I do love Ma, but she's to damn costly to feed!

Seen and rebuilt 1000's of Garands and a lot of 14s and of course the 14 types. The Devine rifles are still the best.

Re: So many plastic guns.

Got two Kreiger's in the shop for when I burn out the barrels on two test beds I'm working on (another project).

Boot's seconds were better than most people "quality" product, Kreiger is just as good since he came up under Boots.

After the first of the year, I'll be swapping roughly 4 barrels to Kreiger's. No, not looking for work. I am retired and loving it! But I still have my tools!

Re: So many plastic guns.

I came up with the Griffin and Howe mount for the 14, no I didn't use the Alaskan.. I mounted Leopolds. Superb mount, could slide off the scope and pack it and then slide it back on anytime without re-zero'ing it. Used them for years since they were far better than the ART/Leatherwood mounts. But I won't put a mount in the way of the iron sights. Tactically unsound. I also do use the stripper clip guide when needed. But I'm old school, because it works. I used that set up out to 1000 yards with a piddly little 2x7. The G&H would not work with critical scopes because of the offset.
