I have 2 UBRs one on a ar 15 one on ar10. My face sits right on the back of the cheek weld and after about 25 to 50 rounds rubs a nice blister/abrasion on my cheek. especially if I am shooting prone or off the bench. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution.

^^ This would be a good first step. ^^

Sounds like you might possibly have your optics mounted too far rearward for proper use on an AR if you are having to back that far off on your cheek weld. Pics of your setup (or with you on the rifle) would help in this regard.

Re: Magpul UBR problem

Never really had a problem with any other style stock standard or PRS. Back of the scope eyepiece is at the back of the lower just like all my other Ars. I thought that was pretty standard for magnified glass. I have plenty of room to move it forward just feels uncomfortable to shoot that way. Just seems the cheek weld is kind of short on the UBR just wasn't sure if others had experienced the same.
Thanks ORD

Depending on what optic you are using, just because it is mounted with the eyepiece even with the CH (or somewhere in that vicinity) doesn't mean it is mounted properly. Let the eye relief of your optic determine its proper placement on the rifle...not a random point like the eyepiece/CH position.

Also, for some people, some stocks just don't fit properly for their body habitus/shooting position/etc. It could be that the UBR just isn't for you.

Re: Magpul UBR problem

+1 on what ORD says.

I have a UBR with the 0.7" recoil pad. I believe the LOP is greater on the UBR than the PRS?

With scope eyepiece placed level with the CH, I need the UBR fully extended to get correct eye relief in the prone but my cheek falls comfortably on the cheekpiece and doesn't fall into the pit left by extending the butt (which is, if I understand correctly, the problem with your set-up?).

I'd suggest removing the optic, getting the LOP sorted so that you have a comfortable position on the trigger/pistol grip/cheekpiece then remount the optic at the correct eye relief....even if that is a little further forward and doesn't "look" quite right.

If you're large/tall and need the full extent of the LOP to get comfortable, I'm thinking that the SAPR from Battleline Inds would help bridge the "pit" once it's available for Magpul?

Re: Magpul UBR problem

I'm not a "nose on the charging handle" advocate, however, take a look at the pic below for what many might consider proper cheek weld with this stock...

Re: Magpul UBR problem

Sounds like you may just prefer your optics further back on the rail than most, it may not be the stock for you. I generally run my scopes eyepiece close to parallel to the charging handle or close to it, assuming your eye relief is 2.5-3.5"

If you look at the location of the scope in the pic, it gives you an idea of where you should be. There are variables such as preference and eye relife, just gives you a base line.

Re: Magpul UBR problem

Thanks Guys. I was afraid of that. I think ORD maybe right. I not really big 6'0" but my measured LOP is standard so the UBR feels for right trigger pull totally extended maybe 1 notch shorter. When that is done I really have to crane my neck forward to get my cheek out of the valley. Maybe the UBR just ain't my thing. Thanks for all the input just wasn't sure if I was missing something.
