I was seeing how far I could get back in my yard today and got to 200, and had my rifle in the app (20" 5R, 2,500fps) using 175 smks and it said 4.4 inches, and my Weaver moa moa I dialed to 4.25" and it shot a nice .844" group, but was 6-7 inches high. What the heck is up, I know I;m an idiot, and new to shooting apps, but how did I shoot this high?
Vert- 2.1moa/ .61mrad/4.41"/ 8.4 clicks. That's what the app said

I use the istrelok app.

Did you confirm your 100yd zero?
Is the scope adjustments in 1/4moa or 1/2 moa?

If the zero is on at 100 then more than likely you just over dialed. Make sure the app inputs (click values) match the scope.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

Yes it shoots sub 1/2 groups at 100. And its .25moa FFP . Shot a .268" at 100 just before the 200, then went 300 (outside my lawn) and dialed, and shot high again. Only thing is i am guessing at MV, as not put through chrony yet, but I shoot 45gr varget. ??? Still confused.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

It sounds like an error in either range input or how you are interpreting the output... The shots were twice as high as they needed to be (9-10" up instead of 4.5" up from zero), and you were shooting at 200. It would be easy to think "I need 4" so I'll dial 4moa" by accident, which would give you twice the needed elevation at 200.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

I doubt muzzle velocity is fast enough to raise you 6" over at 200. I'm running at 2625 with 178's and I'm just a touch flatter at 200.

I'd check the scopes tracking and make sure you didn't over dope your scope.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

We use Strelok, and my son's .308 shoots 2583 with 43.5 of Varget (longer barrel) and the 175 SMK and the dope is very similar- and is dead on out to 600 yards (his scope doesn't have enough elev adjustment to get him to 1K).

The dope is correct, about two minutes from a 100 yard zero for that MV.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

I know in the app I use I have to change the zero distance to 100 yards. It defaults to 250 yards.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

I don't know I've dbl checked everything. The scope has tracked perfectly everytime before.
NM, I'm a DA. I dbl doped like I was still shooting @ 100. I left my turret where it was and I doped for 4" which is #4 on the turret, but I was at 200 and only should have went to 2. My fault, I had a a dope chart on my 243, and was making one for my 5r, and went blank. I used to shoot BR, and everything was on my stock. Sorry for wasting your time guys.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

Yea I was also going to recommend it was user error. But because it is so easy to blemish a good products name on places like this. Strelok has been accurate enough for me as long as I input the right things. Like any calculator though, garbage in garbage out. I'm glad you figured out your error.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

I entered the correct values, and the app gave the correct readings, It's good (free) software, and has worked great. The problem was the idiot behind the stick, that forgot that .25" goes to .5' when at 200. I went to 4", when I should have went to 2". Thanks guys, Strelok is GTG

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

Strelok also has the option to give the output in clicks. Saves you having to do the math at varying distances.

if only it would prevent me from turning the knobs in the wrong direction every now and then.

Re: Anybody use Strelok ballistic app? What the heck

Thanks, I noticed that after playing with it a while. It really is a good app to run. I shot again to 400, and it was just about spot on, so I must be close at guessing my velocity. I also saved my 243, and I was getting 2970 from 105 Amax's. (I had access to a chrony that day.
