Hi Guys ,

Just thought I would pass on my opinions on the Zeiss Spotter 60 , I brought a few mths back .

I have a number of problems with the unit , the lens covers both front & back seem very cheap & flimsey , and IF you mount a sunshade it appears that the front cap is usesless , I actually expected the lens covers to be a much better design and strength .

The mag range of 20-60x , makes picking up your intial tgt almost impossible , as bottom end mag is too high at 20x .

I my opinion , better to get the 15-45x version ie the Spotter 45 .

Reticle , I have always maintained the L shaped reticle should have hash marks and 1/2 mil marks at least as well , so , in short , buy the 45x version and wait for a better reticle etc .

Rubber armour should have also covered the front lens extemsion .

SO , now , I am in need of a small aiming device to mount on my Spotter60 , so as to quickly aquire the tgt ? , so what are you guys using ?

this is the reasons I bought a spotter 45 with Horus H32 reticle.

I suggest to put on one lateral rail a micro T1 or a cheaper red dot, guys in the digiscoping use a red dot from sost air for this poupose

Yeap , I will make do with it at the moment , and will likely use 2 rails , one for a small red dot type sight & the other for a angle indicator , not a fan boy of the horus reticles or thier pricing , I just wanted something like the Finndot reticle or a modification of that ,

Cheers Chris

An MSR ret is in the works,...the findot ret copyright belongs to their military hence its not a civilian offering at present.

Here in the US we can't get the Spotter45 so all you'll see is talk of the Spotter60.

We don't have the option, I have asked several times to get one and nothing.

Another thing, I have one of the original ones, and broke my eye cup, the plastic ring that holds it to the eye piece. Well it has to go back to be replaced because my version is not user replaceable ...

Great timing - I was literally hours away from placing an order for a Spotter 60.

Dogtown , trust me get the Spotter45 model , me I would not get it with the horus , something else , order it thru iea .
Shoot them an email , price should be close to 2571 Euros just like the 60 version provided you go with out the horus reticle one .

Re: Zeiss Spotter 60 problems

Yeap ,

The eye piece on mine did not last long before fallin OFF , but got it back on after a while trying to figure it out .

Like I said , not impressed with the covers for the front lens & eye piece , and as its designed for the Mil , I would have thought a colour other than BLACK , ie green of brown rubber armour would have been better , and would have extended the armour further .

Also , as I said yrs ago , needs a better 1/2 mil or smaller hash mark reticle .

And , YEAP , as soon as I drop the money on one , they fixed most issues .

Would have also thought a sunshade would have been sorted better ?

Thats life .
