Getting ready to cut down a 110 tuperware
Stock to fit my daughter. Length of pull on
Her cricket is 12" so where starting there.
I'll probably be taking off enough that I'll loose
The mounting points? This is gun smithing
101 for sure but would there be any videos
Out there to follow? Everything I found was
Of wooden stocks?? Not sue what to do with
The cavity of the plastic stock?

I would probably use that as a filler withing an 1 1/2" of the butt of the stock then scuff the inside and use a good epoxy to have something solid to screw to for the recoil pad. That's just how I would probably go about it but I'm far from a gunsmith. I just know enough to get me in trouble haha.

This is the approach that I've used on a few inexpensive stocks, and it works fine. I'd highly recommend using some filler in the epoxy (talc, baking soda, or West System microballoons), or at the very least, use as slow of an epoxy that you can or else thermal runaway can occur.

Sell it and get a Savage Rascal.
Phone is for scale.
That's a Cooey model 60 at the top.
That's a Crossman 760 Pump Master at the bottom.

Re: Cutting down a plastic stock??

The suggested expanding foam works fine. Then epoxy in a piece of wood to anchor the new pad to. I've done this on a couple of the cheap plastic stocks for people in the past.

Re: Cutting down a plastic stock??

Forget the anchor points. Cut your stock to length, rough fit pad, then use JB weld to attach the pad to stock, put stock in freezer then do final sanding for perfect pad fit. Done this several times with great results. Filler is up to you. With a youth gun the balance is portability vs. shootability.

Re: Cutting down a plastic stock??

I cut mine down and, right or wrong, cut a thin sheet metal "base plate" that I drilled holes into for the screws for the butt pad. I fixed the sheet metal to the stock at a webbing point and on the inner surface w/epoxy. Worked fine.

the foam would even be fine to hold in a block of wood
