shooting mats and drag bags

Re: shooting mats and drag bags

I have never used one but I do not like the looks of them. JMO.. I have a nice bag and a midway mat that rolls up and I have it hooked on to the outside of the bag... I also carry 3-4 mags ammo tools data book cleaning rods and whatever else in the bag. It would suck if I had to unload it to fold it out to shoot on it or if I had to carry a second gear bag.

This way i can unfold the mat pull out the rifle and shoot.. I can use the bag for a rest, protect my gear and data book from the rain, snow or wind. it really works slick!

This condor bag 6-7 yrs old not one bit of damage anywhere.. no zippers broken or sewing failures!

for $30 bucks its tough to beat!

Re: shooting mats and drag bags

I kind of like the idea of a mat/case in one.

I think I want something to carry my rifle and as a
ground cloth I can use under my tarp. (double duty)
and of course use for shooting in the field.

pockets for mags, ammo, range cards, etc. would be
needed too.

and lite :)

I know I want the holy grail :) but let's see how
close we can get :)

I'm looking real hard at this one.

I'm looking at shooting mats right now too.

I don't like the idea of having all these pockets on to carry my gear, that's what my pack is for. I want a small compact mat that rolls up tight and will fasten to my pack.

Re: shooting mats and drag bags

I used a Galati bag/mat combo for a while and liked it alright. The biggest downside I found was that you gather a lot of dirt, grass, and sand in it while using it as a mat, then have that floating around in the case. I was always taking all the loose gear out and shaking it before zipping it back up, kind of a pain. Switched to a drag bag and foldable shooting mat, and have been happier with this.
