How effective is the Surefire brake for a 338 Lapua? This would be just the brake alone without a can. Is it as effective as the TRG 42 brake?

Just as a brake.... I would go for the APA Fat Bastard. Surefire brakes are meant to have a can on them for some of the time. The 338 brake on a 260 is cake. you dont feel much of anything!

I hope to one day put a can on it. It is a TRG 42 so I don't think APA threads for it.

The Sako brake won't make you too curious about the others if you have already gone that way. It works well. Agree with above my TRG with Sako brake has less perceived recoil than my '06 as well. And makes it easy to spot shots.

lol, The only down side with either of them and a 338 is that anyone next to you is gonna have to double up on ear protection.
