well i opened my gun shop 3 weeks ago stocked up with plenty of ar's ak's and other goodies. I've already sold everything covered my initial investment. got a order of 25 ar's in as soon as i heard of the shooting and they are coming in any day. but i figure thats it.

I've got a m1a national match with a stainless barrel and 3 30 round clips left and a od green ar-10 3 25 round mags od prs stock. i planned to make a decision on one before the madness. but i have not got a chance to get to the range since all of this started. I've wanted both forever.

I'm going to the range sunday. but thats not gonna be enough time to really fine tune either one. and really see what i like. I'm sure ill prefer one over the other. i can afford to keep both. but when i got in this i told my self I'm in the gun selling, not gun collecting business. and with these stupid prices. the business man inside me takes over. pros and cons any one

I've had both. Sold an M1A loaded version couple months back. Have had 2 AR-10's. Wish I would have never sold the Armalite! I just really like the AR platform vs M1A platform. krw

Re: m1a national match or armalite ar-10

I just bought an M1A and its my new favorite rifle. I have a POF 308 and its a much nicer rifle. I have a Nightforce scope on it and have over 6K in this rifle. I hate to say my new M1A I got a few days ago is a much more fun rifle to shoot. Just shooting Irons the other day out to 565 yard and I was loving it.

I say M1A all the way. I will be buying another as soon as I can. Wishing I would have bought one YEARS ago.

Ar10 all the way. An AR10 is much easier and cheaper to scope and the optic stays firmly attached to the receiver. The M1A while nice was not designed for mounting optics and after trying three different mounts for my M1A the rifle had a constantly shifting zero. If you aren't planning on putting glass on either then I would get te M1A

Sounds like you were at manatee! I always know when someone says 565 yds. I have shot my m1a irons there as well among many other rifles including a maten at 1k yds.

If you want to shoot irons keep the m1a. If you want optics keep both.

Re: m1a national match or armalite ar-10

I have had both, sold the M1A and am building a second AR10 in 6.5 creedmoor.
The M1A never really fir me well and wasn't nearly as accurate as my Armalite out of the box. It would have required way too much money to make it shoot as good too so I went with an other Ar10 instead.

Re: m1a national match or armalite ar-10

I "started", with an M1A loaded version. It's a great rifle. Out of the box, with a 4-16 Monarch on it, she groups 2-3 in., at 100. My "advisor" told me to get a DPMS 308, with the Bull barrel. I didn't listen. Just shot my new DPMS SASS, the other day. 1 in., at 100, with surplus ammo. Still "playing with the scope" Won't sell the M1A, cause it's a great rifle, but the DPMS shines, so far. I went with a new rifle, instead of spending a grand, on "accurizing" the M1A. Why not be a "collector"? These guns are like money in the bank, with what's coming. A good investment.

Re: m1a national match or armalite ar-10

All of the above if you can swing it.

I have a "standard" from the 80's M1A all USGI parts in a McMillan stock, A brand new rear lugged supermatch I am bedding currently in a McMillan stock and a Armalite AR10 national match rifle that is completely stock except for the Geissele (?) trigger I added.

I like them all and unfortunately I doubt they will be easier to obtain in the future,
