Hey guys, quick Aimpoint mount question.

Ordered a new Comp M2 from a site sponsor that includes the factory Aimpoint mount. However, it seems every post on these sights shows where almost everyone is using a GGG, LaRue, etc. mount.

Does the factory mount just suck? This is going on the wife's AR, and likely never to be removed so any QD feature would go unused anyway.

I don't get the fascination with QD mounts replacing the factory mount on Aimpoints. Is the the 2 seconds saved removing a lever mount vs the factory mount worth $150? The factory mount with the torque limiting knob may not be the sexiest thing around but it RTZ as good as anything out there. I have 2 Comp M4s and love 'em.

The "look" is what I'd guess drives most decisions regarding QD systems. Most aren't going to use them in there intended role.

I prefer the factory mount. Put a Larue or ADM on too tight and you need a tool to pry it open. The factory mount goes on easy and comes off easy. I don't remove it often but when I have it goes back without loosing enough for me to notice.
