I am really leaning toward the Remington R5 300wm. I would like to shoot factory Federal Gold Match and was wondering what type of accuracy I can get from this package. I am not stuck on that ammo and will try several types to see what it likes but I would like any feedback from someone with similar setups. Pictures of groups or experience would be greatly appreciated. Also wondering if I should be leaning toward a more accurate factory rifle, I thought of Kimber or Savage.

As tackleberry stated I own both the p and 5r. I can shoot 3/4 Moa out to 1200 yards with my p and a 208 amax. Probably same 3/4 Moa out to 1500 just nowhere avaliable to shoot that far. I bought my 5r in feb. and have played with it. One thing to consider..I reload for every rifle I own. The 700's are notorious for alot of freebore and some bullets are jump tolerant some aren't. I think the 190 smk will do just fine out to 1k or farther. One recommendation ... Get a brake and a new trigger. You'll enjoy either rifle much much more.

P.s. Tackleberry is being humble. The dude can shoot as good as anyone I know

Re: 300 Win Mag R5

Aimsmall55,
I have the same R700 5r WM Shooter bedded in Manner T5A stock and have worked a lot to find a consistant load. I cant say I've found a perfect load, but certainly good enough to get me 1MOA at 100. I shoot only 190SMK's and 208AMAX on top of Reloader 22 out of Black Hills Brass and Winchester Primers. You mind sharing what seems to be pretty consistant for you? Any hints would be appreciated, I'm always interested with what works for others.
Thanks

Sure, out of my 5r I'm shooting 210 vlds w/ 76.2 h1000 at 2865 fps average with rp brass and 215 m primer at 2.912" to ogive. Shoots bugholes.

Also with the 208 amax I'm shooting 72.4 r22 same brass ect.. At 3.595" coal. (can't remember ogive length) they shoot better than the bergers. I'm jumping them 20/1000". They are shooting right at 2900 fps. Shot a 3 shot group at 150 yards with these yesterday that measured .210 inches.

I dont neck turn or any of that stuff. I run fired brass through a lee collet die, prep it, tumble, then load em up. Then after 3 firings I get them real shiny in my tumbler and use a drill with a socket and a plain old butane torch and anneal. Then run em threw the collet die again. That pretty much sums it up

Re: 300 Win Mag R5

Excellent info I appreciate it! I'm currenting running 71.7 or RL22 with my 208's, so I'll ramp up the charge in 1/10th incriments to what you have and see how that works for me. Thanks again!
