Rifle Scopes NightForce Scope

Re: NightForce Scope

Taken from Nightforce's FAQ page:

3. Where are Nightforce Optics riflescopes made?
Some of our optics are engraved with "Made in USA" while others are engraved with "Made in Japan." The country of origin for the source of the primary core components of the optics requires the appropriate “Made in” designation.

We have worked with the premier Japanese firm since our earliest days, as they have proven time and again to be industry leaders in optical design and manufacturing. It has always been the Nightforce Optics goal to build and offer the best optics in the world. With that said, all of the final assembly and quality assurance testing to guarantee Nightforce Optics standards is conducted at our factory in Orofino, Idaho. All service, modifications and warranty work is performed in our Idaho facility as well.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but the NXS models are "Made In Japan" and the F1 models are "Made In USA." So just because you ordered from them directly doesn't mean you got one made in the U.S. unless you bought an F1.

I personally don't mind the "Made In Japan" engraving. Every Nightforce I've ever been behind has functioned flawlessly.

Can't correct you but I will say my F1 definitely says "Made in USA". Unfortunately my NXS 5.5-22 has rings covering the s/n and other engravings.

But to be honest after using both I could care less about where they were made cause they work great.

Re: NightForce Scope

The F1's and Compact models are made in the USA sans the glass. The scopes marked Made in Japan are not made a Nightforce, until the fine people of Orofino, Idaho work their magic on them.

Re: NightForce Scope

I have both a Made in US marked NF scope and a Made in Japan marked scope. There is no discernable difference between the glass in the two scopes. There is also no difference between the quality of the turrets, the power adjustment, the illumination, or any other functional aspect of the two scopes. Enough said.

Re: NightForce Scope

I'm in the market forum first NF and uncertain if I'll go F1 or NXS, likely the later. Really have no problem with made in Japan--big Nikkor lens fan over the years.

My question is what final assembly in USA means. More curiosity than anything. Just wondering if fully assembled here from parts or if assembled in Japan and tweaked/inspected here.
