Gunsmithing opening barrel channel

On a Manners stock with the Carbon fiber shell is it possible to open the barrel channel or does the carbon fiber shell prohibit doing so with out damaging the stock?

I did one not to long ago, wasn't a problem. I did it in the mill, as I needed to remove quite a bit.

Tom roams around here, so I'm sure he will chime in and let ya know.

I have not experienced any problems opening the barrel channel on the 90% carbon stocks.
