I have been searching for a reciever and bolt to use for a trainer setup in my aics stock. Not having much luck for a reasonable price. I found PTG makes bolts.
Does anyone have a reciever or a print laying around? I am thinking about making reciever myself.

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

gunrunner auctions has a 40X that will sell in the next few days...as of a few minutes ago bids were at $670...its a US military marked rifle built on a modified 700...I have an earlier version based on the 721, also military marked and it shoots lights out in original config

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

We have started making Winchester and Howa one pc. replacement bolts if you find a donor receiver to use . Thanks Dave

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

Do you know if any of those are remington pattern? I am trying to build a setup with the same weight and balance as my 260 to practice odd position shooting. I am not too familiar with the win, kimber, ect.. that the cmp sells. I will call them tomorrow and see if they have any insight.

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

I got a cmp 40x barreled receiver 2 years ago. $360 iirc picked up in Anniston. Another $100 in parts, $200 for bolt and $200 for a Jewell trigger. Got a original stock on here for $150 I think.

The gun is extremely accurate. Period.
The gun will not extract ANYTHING due to chamber issues. I am having it setback when I get off the boat.

If you want to do it a piece at a time so you're not shelling out house payment money at once, go the route I did. If you want to shoot next week, get a complete gun. It was more peaceful and an easier sell on the homefront to go the route I did and it was fun putting it together. I plan on stickin it in an M40 repro walnut stock soon. YMMV

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

get a CZ 455, mod the stock a bit then save up for your 40x. But you'll probably find that you'll like the CZ

Keep an eye out for the 1903 trainers, the Win 52's

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

If I could get a barreled action for $360 it would be great. All I am finding is complete rifles for $1300 plus. The stiller action looks nice but I do not need to go that high end. I just want to put together a training setup just for practicing odd shooting positions.
I shot at the blue steel ranch (where the steel safari is held) and the property where the snipers hide cup is held and it illustrated I need more practice with non traditional shooting positions. Most of the matches I shoot are 95% prone and maybe a couple shots off of sticks. I also need practice with tripods.
I am looking for something accurate enough to let me know if my technique is consistant and stable. I do not plan on shooting past 50 yds most of the time.
I looked into using an airsoft stock and one of the bolt action 22s I have already but would prefer to use my real stock and scope for practice.
If there are any other actions out there that can be had for a reasonable price that will fit the AICS stock please let me know. Preferrably something that I could put a good trigger on so the pull weight will be the same as my regular rifle.
Thanks

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

One option for a "traditional" tactical is the new M40A22 stock for the CZ452 from Mcmillan. I m considering that option.

Another option is something like this:
AICS stock for .22lr

Uses real AICS skins with aluminum block for endoskeleton. Of course, it's not plug and play, but an option for you if you have a machine shop local to you willing to do "weird" stuff.

Then there's always the Boyd's Tacticool stocks.

And one more option, though as involved as the AICS rout but doable at home is to make up a blank out of oak boards and cut it to shape and inlet for your chosen rimfire. Link to ar15.com thread: Homebuilt A5 style stock

The thread got stupid toward the end with "pay us to sell homemade stocks" but all of the info is valid. I actually bought 2 outlined blanks, one of them is inletted for a 10/22 action. Haven't had time to do anything with them yet. Good luck and post your results!

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

If you like the AICS stock, you can also look at the airsoft conversion. Well's and G&G are very close clones of the AICS...the gas guns not the spring guns.

take a look around the rimfire section and you'll find a few conversions. I'll be doing one for my Izhmash (well, maybe-I might just buy a CZ can call it done, the Izhmash is a huge PIA)

Re: 40X 22cal reciever or reciver print.

Version II of this action is a R700 footprint.

I put this together about a year ago for a trainer. Trued 40X action/PT&G bolt/Rock Creek Barrel. Have about $1350 in the barreled action. Very accurate. If you want to shoot it, glad to bring to the next CRC match.
