Sidearms & Scatterguns XDS

Re: XDS

Yep. It's an excellent pistol as you probably already know. I have run 230g ball, 200g RNFP, and 165g Hydroshocks through it. I've yet to have a malfunction. Probably 3-400 rounds through (mostly the 200 and 230s).

I was surprised the other day when I shot it. At 25 feet any one of these loads puts 5 into one big ugly ragged hole. What was surprising is that POI was the same for each of these 3 loads.

It is my preferred carry gun.

Re: XDS

I'm liking mine, I only have 150 rounds through it of mixed ammo but no issues other than me riding the slide closed and not taking the first round...but it seems to like slide release and just being sent home at full speed. I think it's becoming my new favorite.

Re: XDS

Mine is my new full time carry gun. I have shot 500 rounds of Federal 230gn cheap stuff, 200 rounds of Remington 230gn UMC, and 30 rounds of Speer gold dot, short barrel.

Just bought some Berry plated bullets, 185gn, semi wad cutters to load up and punch some holes with. I will let you know how that turns out.

Zero failures of any kind. This little gun is pretty accurate too.

Re: XDS

Just ordered some 185 gr bullets for mine as well. Only shot it once so far, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 10 yards. Not sure what I was doing wrong. Grip was very uncomfortable for me. Have the Talon grip on now so will see how the next shoot goes.

i had the same problem. a guy at the range asked if he could shoot it cuz he was interested in it. so i let him have a go round and he was grouping 3" at his POA at 25 yds, unsupported. me, from a rest couldn't hit shit. plus, it is way too picky about grip. if you dint't have a good hard firm grip, it would not function properly. so i ditched it for a sig 938.

I might be little biased...

Just put Pearce ext's on mine today.

Re: XDS

I love my XDs, it is my full time carry. I'm using an old Uncle Mike's 36, that I had laying around. It seems to do all I need. AS for ammo, it was designed to shoot .230 FMJ, so that's what I use. Nearly 1000 rounds, and 0 failures.

I find it very hard to believe that the XD (I own two) was designed around one bullet (230) grain only. Any bullet and powder combo that shoots straight and cycles the slide without problems will do the trick. That's why they offer 185 and a 200 grain bullet. Course that's mostly for us reloaders. If you just buy off the self ammo your going to limit yourself to whatever is available which will probably be 230 grain. Us reloaders can be picky bastards and come up with our own magic bullets (ammo).

Re: XDS

Just picked up mine yesterday. I bought a slightly used bi tone with 4 mags. I took it to my range and shot it for the first time. The pistol has a little zip due to it's size, but not bad. I'm going to be putting XS, HDs or TFOs on it...I haven't decided yet.

I did buy a sight pusher to handle those PITA XD pistols.

Re: XDS

Well I finally got a decent day to go shoot (after getting 6 inches of rain over the last two days). Made paper most of the time on a much smaller target than I shot at last time. Nothing to brag about but it's a start. I think the talon grips and pierce mag plates helped. If I find some room on my credit card sometime I may go for a better rear sight.

Re: XDS

Those of you looking for holsters I have found that the holsters that I have for my Glock 27 fit my XDS perfectly. Maybe just the few I have but they fit like a glove. I have not tried any SERPA styles which lock into the trigger guard so you may want to ensure that you have an unloaded pistol if try one.
