Been out a couple times and shot my new Larue PredatAR 7.62 and the stock trigger leaves me wanting something better. Im pretty new to the AR platform, but wondering if I should let a smith work on the stock trigger, or if there is a really good trigger I should consider upgrading to?

If an upgrade is needed, what do yall recommend? I want a smooth, light trigger pull. Almost hair trigger.

Please advise. Thanks.

+1 on that. My OBR shipped with an Geiselle SSA, but they had upgrade options available at the time.

I ended up putting a Geiselle SD-E in it. Great triggers and customer service.

Re: Larue 7.62 trigger

I honestly wasnt sure what trigger it came with, but a quick look on Larues website says it is in fact a Geiselle. Im not saying its a bad trigger. It feels solid, no creep. I would just like to lighten the pull weight so thats why I asked. If this is already a good trigger, can a smith work on it and reduce the poundage of pull?

Like I said Im not real familiar with ARs...still learning. Ive always bought Jewel triggers and put them in my bolt guns but wasnt sure what to do about this rifle. Been around guns a long time but I dont claim to know a great deal about the inner workings of them so figured Id ask yall. Yall are way smarter than me when it comes to this stuff.

Re: Larue 7.62 trigger

Geissele makes the Hi-Speed trigger, the one I have came with three springs. I ended up using the middle weight on my Grendel. This trigger supposedly has the shortest lock time too.

If you want the finest trigger, and I mean HAIR trigger, that would likely be their 3gun trigger. I have one on an AR, the flat version? and the first time I used it I had a weak grip... Got doubles and triple bursts (and yeah, it was me and not the trigger). Gotta be careful with that one! Feels more like a 1 stage but it is in fact a 2 stage.

I tried most of the nicer triggers side by side on test frames at Rainier Arms. Geissele was by and far the best in my opinion, but Wilson triggers weren't bad either --just more expensive. Geissele makes a trigger for just about any occasion. If you can't find one from them, you likely won't.

PS, call them and see if they'll send you a different weight spring, that might do it for you.

You can, BUT... it may not ignite all mil surp or hard primers. It is perhaps worth a try... there is no sound louder than a CLICK though, when you REALLY need a BANG!
