Not planning on buying one, but I came across the GPS Rifle today and was curious about two things listed:

- Replace action screws with larger, hardened steel, extruded screws
- Increase magazine capacity from 4 to 5 cartridges, clear box magazine from feed ramp

The screws look to be torx. I haven't seen a Rem BDL floorplate in a long while. Does this work or does the floorplate need to be modified? I have a build that will be using a PTG Rem clone floorplate. I wouldn't mind using torx instead of hex.

I assume they are getting that fifth round by filing the nubs off the bottom of the follower, but what does “clear box magazine from feed ramp” mean and why would one want it done?

Re: GPS Defense Sniper Rifle Modifications?

They are hex bolts and yes the mag increase is done by removing the stops. The mag box clearance is for the ones that have sharp points on the front that scratch the bullet and neck during feeding.

Re: GPS Defense Sniper Rifle Modifications?

So they are not torx like on the Badger units, but are regular hex bolts only with an extended head? Are these easily available? What is the point of the upgrade over the regular hex screws?

As for the mag box- If I understand you correctly- They are simply polishing the edges?

Re: GPS Defense Sniper Rifle Modifications?

The bolts I buy in bulk at the hardware store. There is to points at the front of the box that get removed.
