Gun is 700 308 milspec, shooting 175 grain SMK's , varget powder.

Shot another ocw and it seems my gun likes either the min charge or near book max's
I shot from 41grains to 42.8 grains
I think 41.3 is the load, but will try another 6 groups or so higher from 43.1 to 44.6 or so.

From my amax testing it may also like 44.3 grains with the smk's and that's right where it starts to show pressure.

BTW I shot these groups about as fast as I could single feed the rounds, but it was like 5 degreesF

Opinions ??

Doesn't look like a true ocw test. Just looks like you shot groups with different loads? But i agree based on the pic, 42.8. And if you're not seeing pressure signs go up another tenth or so and retry.

Concur.

Good Luck,

Re: Help reading OCW

After thinking about this a little with regards to the 42.8 grain load, should it really matter what the group looks like at 100 Yards ?
I think not, we are trying to find a common group impact point, not a certain group size , or pattern, ect.

Wouldn't a horizontal group mean more at say 300 YARDS ?
