So after watching the last Mail Call Monday I decided that I should get a 22lr trainer and I did, I left my local shop today with a Savage MKII FV-SR and topped it off with a Hawke Sport-HD IR 4-12X50 Scope.

I was trying to stay under 500.00 and was out the door 399.59 I will have pics up soon this rifle shoots great, I did'nt know if I would like a bolt 22lr but after shooting this rifle today I am glad I bought it.

Manners also offers a stock in their T4 config. My brother just got one and it is an amazing stock. But it is a little more $$$ (about 4x as much)

Also heard the Boyds can be tough to get, but keep ur eye open and one should pop up.

Regards,
DT

Re: New savage MKII trainer

another stock option is the AICS folder or non-folder (airsoft)...Do a little searching and you'll see where people have converted the G&G/Wells gas(not spring) airsoft to various 22 stocks (cz, savage, marlin).

I've got a couple- (not fit yet)...very close to true AICA size and weight. I believe the G&G is a licensed copy.

If you do some checking there is someone that makes a MKII chassis that fits the MKII action and accepts the AICS skins

Re: New savage MKII trainer

I had some Winchester ammo I had bought a year or so ago, it's the Super X 22lr 37g HP HV I also have some CCI mini mag 36g HP they both shot good I only had time to shoot about 50 rounds at the range and had to go, but the CCI shot the best out of the two. When I get some time I will sit down and see what it can do.

Re: New savage MKII trainer

Sounds like fun, mine has just been sitting in the safe since I got it last month. The factory base that comes with it was surprisingly nice but the stock is hoerible as you've seen.

Re: New savage MKII trainer

yeah I am gonna replace the stock most likely with a boyds. The base is made by EGW there is a mark under the chamber port its not bad at all for what you pay for it.

Re: New savage MKII trainer

Try a RHIELAND ARMS LEOPARD STOCK. It is as close to a A I C S stock you will get without having to go crazy fitting the gun like you would with an air soft. With a Boyds Taticool, you will need bottom metal too. May I suggest a 20 M O A scope base from E G W .

If you call them or order from thier website you should have it in couple weeks, I've never had to wait any longer than that for anything from them.

Like others have stated, it is definitely a 0MOA rail.
