I get about +/- .1 to .2 with Varget. I don't try too hard to be consistent as I throw low and trickle to final weight on each load.

It's been a bit since I used mine for H4350. My (failing) memory is that if I was very consistent in operation, I kept the variation to .2 either direction.

I use a thrown charge of RL22 in 6.5-.284 and am showing 1/3-MOA at 400 yards. I can live with that.

Agreed they're using ball powders mostly, but the benchrest crowd throws their charges all the time.

On a couple occasions, I ran tests weighing each charge and throwing the charges normally. Each time, over an Oehler chronograph, the standard deviation was less with the thrown charges. 'Fraid I can't remember what powders I used, but I think IMR4895 was one since I was shooting .308 in highpower matches at the time.

In short, my suggestion would be to run your own test with weighed and thrown charges to see if there was a statistically significant difference.

Cheers,
Richard

Similar results with mine - I now weigh and trickle each charge when shooting more than 200 yards (when time permits).

Varget is a course powder. The most consistent throw was .2 +/- with Harrels. I got the same results with a RCBS thrower. Now if I sheer the granule ( hangs up ) I get a variation of .3 to .4

I only throw powder for the short ranges, 300 meters, anything further and I go on the Lyman 1200.

This is for the 308
