im new to custom barrels and i want to build a 6.5 grendal on an ar platform ive seen some barrel blanks on here for sale in 6.5mm 5r ss will this work for an ar build if not will someone share some knowlege and let me know excactlywhat i need for this build thanks in advance for the help

Yes a 6.5 blank will work. The question is your gunsmith experienced in performing the work?
Does your gunsmith know exactly how to drill a proper gas port and properly time and headspace the barrel extension for an AR.
You'll also need to have the Grendel reamer so he can cut the chamber.

You need to figure out what contour you want, what length you want it, whether or not you want it fluted and/or threaded.
Also make sure it is an AR specific barrel. If you just saw a "barrel blanks on here for sale in 6.5mm 5r ss" it may well be a barrel blank for a bolt gun which definitely will not work for your AR.

thanks for the info and the smith ill probably use is APA (american precisions arms) he is just a couple miles from me and ive shot a few of his rifles and loved them thanks again for the help now off to try and buy a barrel
