I am starting to load for my .260, I was having trouble finding h4350 I thought I would try 4831sc since a search showed quite a few people use it for .260. The problem is finding load data for the 4831sc, I have been looking for the last couple hours and it looks like 47.5 grains is about max. Is this correct? I just want to know so I can back it off a few grains and start loading at .5 grain increments and see what the rifle likes and check for pressure signs.

Max is different for every rifle, that is why you see "start low and work your way up" my 260 shot good with 49.6 of 4831sc in Winchester 7-08 brass, a 142 was going 2800 with single digit spreads, so start low and work your way up.

Thanks!

I realize that, just wanted to see what the published max load is so I could drop down about 3 grains and work my way up from there.

4831SC and the 142gr SMK work great in the .260 that is my 600yd line load in my course rifle and it also shoots nicely all the way back to 1k. In Winchester brass 45gr will give me right around 2,740ish fps out of a 26" barrel. I did .5gr incriments from 44.5gr to 48gr and at 46 i was getting pressure signs big time. Not sure where Hodgdon gets the 48gr from but there numbers seem off (makes sense for H1000).
