Just wondering what the consensus in on slide milling a micro red like the Trijicon RMR.

I have a M&P 9mm that is a blast to shoot and want to throw something interesting in the mix. I was thinking that dual illuminated version would be nice to put on a slide considering there are not electrical parts to get damaged by recoil even though I have read that washout is a problem with this model. thoughts?

Re: Slide mount micro dot

I just got this back from my gunsmith:

Just needs some supressor sights and I'm good to go

Also check out the warrior talk forum. Those guys really seem to like these setups: http://www.warriortalk.com/forumdisplay.php?205-TSD-s-Red-Dot-Combat-Pistols

Re: Slide mount micro dot

Mark at L&M did my slide and it took a week door to door. I don't see how it could have been done any better.

I bought the RM07 which is the manually adjustable LED. I needed the ability to control the intensity of the dot and I also like being able to turn it off. It isn't on my daily carry gun so I don't need it on all the time.

Re: Slide mount micro dot

Thanks for the responses. And the pictures, I really like the way a rmr looks on sidearms. Would you guys recommend getting the slide milled first or trying out the trijicon mounts that use the rear dovetail first?

So is the general consensus that the battery powered dots are better than the dual illuminated model? What about changing the battery, will it change your zero? Or does it fall back into place because the milling is so close?

Re: Slide mount micro dot

The trijicon mounts are expensive, might as well splurge and go for the milled slide. Buy once cry once

Unless of course you just want to try it out. Then I suggest finding someone with a slide mounted optic on their gun and giving it a go.

Re: Slide mount micro dot

I've read that they return to zero pretty well when removed/reinstalled from a milled slide but I haven't removed mine yet so I can't offer any real experience.

thought i would update this thread with some action. my slide has been finished by AETi guns and is on its way back. it only took one week and a day from the day i shipped the slide! pretty fast turn around.

I ended up going with a rmr04 because it just sounded like less hassle. i will post some pictures of the whole thing reassembled when she get back to loving arms next week!

Thank you for the kind words.
