Im looking to put some glass on my 2 rimfires. I would like variable power mil/mil and ffp,and under $500(each). I realize that is asking alot for my budget, but times are tight. the glass will be going on my cz 455pt 22lr and savage 17hmr, the cz will be a trainer and the savage will be a small varmint/rodent gun. Thanks in advance

I think BSA makes a really cheap FFP 4-14x44 for around $250 and there might be a weaver with your requirements for under $500. However, IMO FFP is worthless if the quality of the scope does not allow the units to remain stable throughout the zoom range and the .1 mil click are not accurate / repeatable. After a quick 30 sec look online it look like the Bushnell 3-12 x 44 G2 DMR would be my first choice but people reported paying around $750 which is well above your budget.

The Midway BSA Tactical 4-14x44 is the best deal going in a FFP scope for the price/$250. Modern 1/2 mil reticle that isn't too thick which subtends to 9 mils, 6 mil knobs, side parallax down to 10Y, OK glass...I've seen worse on more expensive scopes. My two track well to 10 mils, a friends does as well.

+1 on the BSA. I have three of em on my rimfires, and for the money, you can't touch em. They are a Midway exclusive, though, and not sold anywhere else. Nothing else better comes to mind until you get to about the $700 price point.

If you search around you can often find used Bushnell 3-12 x 44 FFPs for about $550... if you can stretch your budget just a bit that would be my recommendation.

I have the primary arms 4-14x44 FFP. It is MIL/MIL, and I've been using it until my 1-6 from the SWFA sale comes in. Its a good scope for the money. I like it a lot, and it's half your budget.

I would look for a Demo model from SWFA. I would recommend the 3-9, but perhaps something with more magnification might be what you need. I a SS 3-9 demo for $500. It was new, probably been shipped to someone then returned without mounting. Saved $100.

Look at the "Sample List" to find the discounted units.

This is what I have on my 22 and I love it. You should be able to find one used in your our price range.

Agreed. Mine works fine on my tacticool Savage MkII, and you can't beat the price. The reticle is nicer than the straight mil-dot on the Primary Arms one too.

How about saving some cash and doing fixed power on the rat/varmint rifle? Dang things rarely sit still long enough to dial in anyway. Try a 6x Super Sniper.

Use the extra couple hundred you saved on a better scope for your trainer. $700 gets you much closer to your goal.

Yesterday I was racking my brain trying to figure out what scope to put on my newish CZ527 17 Remington that will be used for predator hunting, PD's, jack rabbit's, etc. I was considering a few other SFP scopes but the problem is always the same, they ain't FFP. Then I briefly considered spending $800 on a PST, Nah, more than I wan't to spend right now. My final conclusion was... just get another BSA 4-14, so it should be shipped today. That makes 3.
