Mmmm had my first po boy at The French Loaf in Houma LA and it was damn good. Might have to have some more this weekend in New Orleans.

New Orleans will offer all kinds of good Po Boys. The BEST Muffuletta is at the Napoleon House (500 Charles St.) or Central Grocery (923 Decatur St.). Po' Boy = French Bread/meat Muffuletta=Big ass round Sicilian bread with Italian meats and cheese with olive salad. Go to Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop for a night cap. Do Not drink their Purple slush.

An oyster po boy sounds soo freakin good right now. ..

Oh Yeah! Got a nice place here in Tampa where the Chef, David, and his partner (my friend) Jorge, are both of Cuban/Tampeno heritage. Dave studied Louisiana cuisine and does a damn fine Po-Boy, among other great dishes with a menu that combines creole and Tampa favorites.

Tampa has a diverse population that is also well known for the mix of Italian, Spanish and Cuban heritage that derives from the people who came here, more than a century ago, to work in the cigar industry that flourishes here still. The descendants of those immigrants have, over the generations, intermarried and created a culture unique to our area. Hence it is not uncommon to meet people with a Spanish surname who maks an amazing lasagna, an outstanding Vaca Frita, and know every place to find a great Cuban sandwich.

Given that, Jorge and Dave decided they'd carve out a different niche in the heart of West Tampa. Seems to be working.

DelRio's cafe on Armenia ave. A little hole in the wall place with outstanding food, long lines and a steady clientele!

Too bad they're closed today: Good catholic boys!

I grew up in New Hampshire and love fried clams to this day! The first time I ever had fried oysters was while visiting Macon, Georgia in 1978! Dear Lord, they are good! Whoever thought of putting them in a sandwich should be honored with great ceremony and reverence!
