I'm shooting in a match this coming weekend and been told that this will be for the most part a "lost brass" match. There will be no time at all given to recover brass. I'm using Lapua brass in most of my rifles and this is a 150+ round match and I don't feel like just giving away $150 worth of my new brass.

I've been trying to come up with some ideas for a light weight inexpensive "DIY" brass catcher to attatch to my rifle. So far I'm thinking about some kind of plastic or cloth bag, a stainless steel wire frame made to hold it open, and possible Velcro or elastic to connect the wife frame to the rifle. It only need to hold about 10 pieces of brass at the most as I can empty it between stages.

I know some of you guys just say "to hell with it" and leave the brass, but I'm just not ok with that. There has to be something we can rig up that won't be too bulky and be easily emptied. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Hey fellow Okie! Ive seen some brass catchers that hang off of the rail on a flat top AR upper. If you have a one piece scope mount you could use one of those. Ill see if I can PM you a link to one.

Yes, I use a one piece rail, but I have to be able to rig this up at home. I don't have time to order anything and have it here by Friday. I figure modifying a brass catcher for an AR to fit a bolt action would be pretty easy, I just don't have one.

some year ago I've buyed a brass catcher from DSA_ this item was engineered to fit their picatinny rail _ two horizontal upper spikes of the box-shaped brass catcher go inserted in two horizontal holes in the rail _ the DSA brass catcher was intended for FALs, as their rail, but if you use a picatinny, you can find two cheap rings, sawing away their upper portion and using the remaining clamps as base to side-placing your home-made, velcro-bottomed bag_ hope can help
