Im thinking 28in bbl with 1:8 twist gonna shoot 140gr and 130gr bergers or hornadys. going with a manners t5 stock. please post pictures of your rigs So i can get ideas. Im going to get a ramrod action from nwactionworks shilen barrel and timney trigger. probably a little bastard break and a heavy palma contour (this is just for now still deciding on what to put on the rifle. planning to shoot 600-1000 yard comps. going to hunting with it too(coyotes, long range varmints, deer, elk maybe).

Carrying a 28" heavy palma contour rifle in elk country sounds like an awesome idea!

Yeah actually I was thinking it was a bad idea too since they live in the mountainy areas so its going to be like carrying a pig on my back+ if i kill a elk got even more weight on me. I'd probably only bring it deer hunting if i do bring it big game hunting.

Here's my 6 Creed, 28" HV Bart.

Why such a long barrel? I thought the 6.5 creed only needed 23"-24" inches to reach its velocity potential. 4 inches of barrel would reduce weight, plus with a lighter contour barrel you could save some as well. The 6mm's are very accurate and would be fine with the lighter barrel I would suspect. Any good builder should be able to build you a hammer with that round and a lighter rifle. I don't own one so I could be wrong. Interested to hear other opinions.

For 6.5 creedmoor its a 26in barrel and 2in of barrel will only add a little velocity which i want :p

I'm in the process of building a 6.5mm custom rifle as well. I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I will say that when I did my research, 26" seems to be most common/average sized barrel for this caliber. Some run shorter for particular reasons (lugging up a mountain for example) but the benefits of going longer than 26" seem like diminishing returns. Yes, a slight increase in velocity which might translate to a little more range. But if you're only going out to 1000yds you can easily do that with anything 22" and up and maybe even a little shorter. (I haven't looked at the ballistics with all other factors considered.) In the end it comes down to what your personal taste and requirements are. But for me, I'm happy with 26".

Beautiful rifles how does the ax chassis preform? and how about the mcmillan stock?

Thank you. The AX Chassis is solid and the stock folds, which I like the fact I don't need to move the cheek piece to clean the barrel. The McMillan is glass bed and that thumb hole stock is extremely comfortable if you are a right hand shooter. Both rifles perform, the best group I've shot with them has been.15". The AX Chassis is easier to apply to more shooting positions. I have chronoed all my loads and taken the readings on the same day with each gun. The 26" barrel gives me around 75 fps more velocity than the 24" barrel with the exception of Berger VLD 140's where there is only about 20-30 fps difference between the two barrel lengths. The Berger VLD's appear to come up to speed quicker than the AMax or Sierra 140's. I have used H4350 (41.5 grains) and H100V (42.8 grains) powder and both are accurate, I get more velocity with the H100V without sacrificing any accuracy. There is 1:8 twist rate on both barrels. I would venture to say that you would not see an additional 75 fps more out of a 28" barrel than a 26". I would agree that 26" is probably the optimum length to reach peak velocity.

Built 2 off of savage actions and criterion barrels. One is 20'" sporter, the other is a 24" heavy varmint.
Boyds stock and a Richards. I am really just a hunter and just recently enjoyed some long range stuff. They are tack drivers.
