Gunsmithing 6.5x47 lapua question

Also, the 6.5 X 47 uses small rifle primers. You can run with a standard f/p hole on your bolt face but may experience cratering or pierced primers depending on your particular rifle and load and you may want to consider having the bolt face bushed with a smaller f/p hole. Gretan offers the service and will turn down the f/p to fit the smaller hole.

I use a regular firing pin in my 6.5X47 L rifles (3 of them) no problems at all, Even with hot loads.
The switch is easy as pie. Spin off your barrel and get either a 1 in 8 or a 1 in 8.5 twist. Mine are cut from 16 to 22 inches.(They all shoot awesome.) Chamber with the Dave Kiff reamer. Put it together and shoot. I use Lapua brass CCI small magnum primers, 139gr Lapua scenar bullets, RL15 37.0gr. Seat at -.001 It likes a jump. Good luck

6.5 Creedmoor is another great option that shares a bolt face with a .308 with the advantage of using large rifle primers so no need to mess with the firing pin or anything.

As for a smith I used Crescent Customs for my last build and couldnt have been happier with the build quality or the customer service.

OP, I'm building a 6.5x47L with PCR right now and instead of going the bushed route I just ordered a PTG bolt to the specs that I wanted. Sold my Remmy bolt on eBay for 182 bucks, PTG can be ordered with small firing pin hole and its a one piece bolt and threaded for knob already. With people paying stupid prices on ebay for stock bolts it was a no brainer. When you factor in knob work, bushing and the slight discount in truing cost It would have been more money to use the remington bolt! Just something to think about.
