My dad took me out to South West Texas this weekend for a ram hunt. It was at Thompson Temple Ranch. To say we had a great time would have been an understatment.
My dad took this Painted Desert with his 257 Roberts from about 80 yards. It took about 5 steps and fell over dead. His ram scored a bronze in the record books.
I took a White Texas Dall with my new 243 built by Scott Weichel at about 100 yards and he took about 10 steps and the folded over dead. He scored a silver in the record books.
Here are my dad and my rams together.
The next morning I took this Rambo Ram with my bow from 40 yards. He went about 15 yards, then fell over dead as well. This one also scored bronze in the record books.
This is Thompson Temple here scoring my Rambo ram.
We could not of asked for a better weekend of hunting. The country out in that side of Texas is beautiful with all of the rocks and mountains. Thompson is also one of the nicest guys that I have ever met and made the trip really enjoyable.
A few more pictures of the area.
In this picture you can see the road that goes up the mountian to get to the back side and the mountain behind it.
Thanks
Walter
