My wife and I recently called off a trip we had planned, and with the extra cash I had, I ordered a gun stock that I had been looking at. The website said they were in stock, the normal ship time is one to two business days, and I was in the two day ups area on their map. I ordered and paid on Sunday night. I received an email confirming my account creation, since you have to order straight from them, and create an account to order. Then I received a blank email, which I assumed was an order confirmation that didn't come through right for some reason. When I checked my account, it showed "Order complete, Shipped, but no tracking number. I waited till the following Monday, six business days before I called and inquired about my order. The woman that answered was pleasant and helpful except for telling me that there was no way I could get an answer that day because it was only 45 minutes till closing time. She called back today to tell me that the reason there was no tracking info was because it actually had not shipped yet, even though it said it had. And furthermore, that she had no idea when it would ship "Because they are so busy". I politely expressed my displeasure, to which she asked if I had planned on having it by any particular date. I explained that since it had shown "In stock" and packing/shipping showed it should be there in four days, I expected it last week. While still polite, she can't seem to figure out why it would upset me. This is a large, well known stock producer, that I have no intention of naming as yet. But I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else would be bothered by this kind of service from a well known maker. I'd expect delays if I were ordering ammo, or AR parts, but a gunstock?? Everybody please call me a sissy so I calm down a bit and quit thinking about cancelling the order.

I dunno, I'm an advocate of "Straight-Up'manship" and doing deals with others on a "clear, cognizant, and legible" manner. If they were speaking in a foreign language, or deliberating about an absolutely different item, then that's a whole other ball of wax.

I think that if it were me, I would call and ask for the owner... he probably isn't there and won't take your call but you will likely get to a manager of some description. I would explain the situation and how you have been treated and why you feel like you were misled. Put the ball in his court and see if he will make it right..... If not, cancel the order with him and make sure he understands why.

Don't know that it will do any good but it might make you feel better. When this is all over, I would send a letter or email to the owner and name names in it. The owner will want to know how his business is being run and his customers treated.

Coming from someone who owns a business

I would call my CC company and cancel that order. They can call the "in stock" etc. a computer error, they can't call charging your card after the stock was shipped a computer error. This is just the start, what if you have a problem of ANY kind? Do you think they will suddenly get a real brain? Once burned twice shy. A lot of the gun related companies are making profits far and above their estimates, good times do not last forever, when there is a "lull" in the market, or another, even better, super whiz-bang stock comes on the market, they may be looking for customers. Those people that took care of their customers when times were good, have a far better chance of having customers when times aren't so good. Best of luck with your problem. I wouldn't hesitate to name names, as if someone else with the same kind of problem had posted it, prior to your attempted purchase, maybe you and your wife wouldn't be in this mess. The facts are the facts.

This is an inexpensive stock. I don't expect to be treated like royalty for buying it. But I don't want to feel wronged either. I'm still pretty young, and tend to get hot under the collar a lot faster than my older friends, I just wanted to see if anybody else would be bent out of shape over this. I think I will write an email to the company first off, and see where we end up.

If you must write, write an actual letter and put a stamp on it. Email goes to the junk folder never to be read, but people tend to put more importance on a letter printed on real paper that comes in a real envelope.

The item was supposed to be in stock and it was not. It was supposed to ship and it did not. Your card was charged for an item not delivered. I would call back and politely cancel the order, but that is me.

Hell, the stock will probably be here before the letter got there. Really sucks because it was cheap enough I could buy a second if I liked it, and have one on both my 223 and 308. Most others I can barely bring myself to spring for one.
